What this page is
This page explains how Atelier Seoul Skin earns money and how that does — and more importantly does not — influence the content on this blog. It is provided in compliance with the US Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials.
How I earn money from this blog
Atelier Seoul Skin is a participant in several affiliate programs, which means that when you click on certain product links on this site and subsequently make a purchase, I may earn a small commission from that purchase. The commission is paid by the retailer, not by you. Clicking an affiliate link never costs you anything extra. Prices are the same whether you use my link or go to the retailer directly.
The affiliate programs currently active on this site include (but may not be limited to): YesStyle, Jolse, Stylevana, and other Korean beauty retailers. This page will be updated if new programs are added or existing ones removed.
Which links are affiliate links
All product recommendations in blog posts may contain affiliate links. At the top of every post containing affiliate links, a brief disclosure statement is placed above the first product mention. Additionally, product names in reviews and lists will typically link to the affiliate-partnered retailer.
Links to my own content (other blog posts, the About page, etc.), links to official brand websites for informational purposes, and links to external publications or research are not affiliate links.
How I choose what to recommend
Every product featured in a review or recommendation post on this blog has been personally used by me (Galya) for a minimum of six weeks on my own dry, sensitive, mature skin before being written about.
I do not accept free product from brands in exchange for reviews. The products I write about are purchased with my own money. This policy exists specifically so that no brand has leverage over what I say about their products.
I do not accept sponsored posts, paid placement, or editorial influence from any brand. If I write that a product is excellent, it is because I believe the product is excellent. If I write that a product fell short, it is because I believe it fell short.
Why I use affiliate links
Blog writing takes considerable time. Testing products takes considerable money. Maintaining a blog, its hosting, its email list, and its tools has real operational cost. Affiliate commissions are the mechanism that allows this blog to continue existing without requiring reader subscriptions, paywalls, or intrusive advertising.
If you have found this blog useful and want to support it, using my affiliate links when you make a K-beauty purchase is the simplest way to do so — it costs you nothing and helps me directly.
What affiliate income does NOT influence
Affiliate income does not influence which products I review, the conclusions I reach about them, the star ratings I assign them, or the recommendations I make. Products that I find unsuitable, overhyped, or disappointing are described as such regardless of whether they would earn commission.
If a highly commissionable product is mediocre, I will say so. If a less-commissionable product is excellent, I will prioritise it over a higher-commission alternative.
How to verify
All of my posts are dated, and the “Last updated” date indicates the most recent review of the content. The products linked are the exact products I used. The retailers linked are the retailers I purchased from. If you notice anything that seems inconsistent with this disclosure, I want to know about it — please email me at hello@atelierseoulskin.com.
